Meet Chef Basmah ⴱⴰⵙⵎⴰ

Moroccan homes gather around one table, and Chef Basmah brings that table to yours: traditional recipes, carefully sourced ingredients and flavors you won’t find on a restaurant menu. She has been cooking as a private chef for 5 years, sharing the story of every dish as she serves it.

Her own words say it best: “Channeling generations through flame and spice.” Guests talk about the food, and just as much about her warmth, the Moroccan music, the tableware she brings from home and the tea she pours from on high.

Questions

Before you book

How does a private Moroccan dinner with MeanTagine work?

Pick a feast from the menus, then call or email with your date, number of guests and neighborhood. Chef Basmah confirms availability and the details with you. On the day she arrives with everything, cooks in your kitchen, serves each course and explains the dishes, pours the mint tea, and leaves your kitchen clean.

How much does a Moroccan private chef cost?

Feasts are priced per guest, from $70 to $130 depending on the menu, with a minimum per booking of $210 to $270. Custom menus are quoted individually. Your written quote confirms the final total, including anything specific to your event.

Where does Chef Basmah cook?

In homes and vacation rentals across Los Angeles & Orange County. Outside that area? Get in touch; farther trips can be arranged. See the service area.

How far ahead should I book?

As early as you can. Weekends and holidays go first. For a last-minute dinner, call rather than email and she will tell you straight away if the date is open.

What do I need to have in my kitchen?

A working stove and some counter space. Basmah brings the ingredients, and often her own Moroccan plates, tablecloth, teapot and glasses to set the table.

Can you cook vegan, pescatarian or around allergies?

Yes. There is a fully vegan feast and two pescatarian menus, and a custom menu can be built around allergies and requirements. Mention them (including halal or kosher-style needs) when you get in touch and she will tell you exactly what she can do.

How many guests can you cook for?

From dinner for two to family tables and gatherings. Each menu has a minimum per booking rather than a minimum number of guests. For larger events, email the details and she will put together a quote.
